4 out of 5 stars Great grill - but could be hotter   August 31, 2010
Mona McMillan
I've had this grill for ~6mo now. Overall, it's a great grill with all the features I need. I upgraded to the stainless grates and flavorizer bars. I think it was worth it becuase I wanted them to last FOREVER, but I understand others preference for caste iron due to the higher heat retention. YMMV.

I can go on and on as others have on all the great things about this grill (value, even heat, well built). But rather than re-state them, I'll touch on two points that, had I known, would have probably pointed me in a different direction:

1) dial location -- being on the side versus the front face means you loose 1/2 of your outlaying space for equipt - platters, buns, sauces, dishes, etc. If you have the side burner in use, you have zero space to put a serving dish. Please, Weber -- move the dials to the front face like everyone else.

2) heat output -- I have found the heat output on the E320P to be lacking. I thought mine had a problem since it will barely reach 550 after leaving it on for 1/2hr. After reading reviews, it appears that is average. I expected that such a grill should reach 700+ no problem as other high end grills I've used. When really trying to sear something at VERY high heat, or cook something fast, I have found this grill lacking. I guess I like my steaks restaurant syle -- where they use 900degree broilers to give that delicious crust. Although, I must admit the food I've cooked has been excellent - evenly cooked and very juicy. My chicken has never tasted so good -- perhaps too much heat is a bad thing??

4 out of 5 stars Worth the extra money   August 17, 2010

After going through Summer of not having a grill, I needed a new grill for a barbecue. I did some shopping around for a good deal. There were some in the $300 range. Those didn't feel like very solid or well built. When opening and closing the lid, it felt very flimsy. The Weber was solid. The box arrived and very easy to put together. It does require a second person to put the grill on the base. All the parts were there and everything fits together.

Pros:
* The grill heated up quickly and retained heat well.
* Everything cooked perfectly.
* Well built.
* Heats up fast and evenly.
* Wheels around smoothly and locks in place.
Cons:
* The knobs are on the side instead of the front and used up valuable work space.
* The horizontal burners makes it difficult to use just 1 burner for smaller jobs. Vertical burners would make more sense so you can use half a grill instead. This is probably related to the knobs being on the side instead of front.
* It is a bit pricey compared to other brand, but those might not last as long.

5 out of 5 stars The only grill a family would ever need   July 29, 2010

There are very few products which gets such perfect reviews. And this product deserves it. I bought mine couple of weeks back and I have been using it everyday since. The assembly is easy. It takes about 3 hours. And once you have your propane tank it is fine grilling from that point. The product features are way too many and I am not going to list them here. But from a grilling experience perspective it is the perfect grill and the only one that you would need for a long time.

5 out of 5 stars Great Grill   July 28, 2010

This is a perfect grill for newbies. My husband and I never owned a grill before, and so after a lot of research we settled on this one. It took my husband about 2 hours to assemble. We've been using it ever since!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent grill (dubious about grids)   July 18, 2010

My grill is the EP-320, with stainless steel grids. The E-320 is the same, but with coated cast iron grids. The latter made me nervous - the coating always came off my steel grids in the past, why would it stay on cast iron?

Amazon does not offer the EP-320, or I would have bought it here; instead I went to a rainbow company on the web, for about the same money (a significant savings, SS grids cost more). That company was fine, but the shipper messed up my delivery - I wound up driving a couple of hours round trip to get the thing on the day I had already taken off work. The box did fit into the back of my Matrix nicely, but forget it with a sedan.

The several hours I spent methodically assembling the grill are a distant memory. The grill will get up to 700 degrees at high, although 550 is more usual. Cooks great. The side burner design is excellent, and it's just powerful enough. I use it to cook pasta outside, and not steam up the house in summer.

I recommend a meat thermometer such as Taylor 9842 Commercial Waterproof Digital Thermometer (fork styles are more convenient, but don't get as good reviews) and a wok such as Weber Style 6434 Professional-Grade Vegetable Basket, both of which I use.
