Product Description
The Grill Daddy is a revolutionary grill-cleaning tool that sterilizes as it cleans to keep food tasting great. Just turn on the grill, fill the Grill Daddy with water, and begin cleaning. Steams away baked-on food, grease, and black residue. It's fun and easy to use, eliminating hard scraping and dangerous chemicals with steam-cleaning and stainless steel bristles. Works on all grills, including stainless steel, iron, and porcelain enamel. Made from NSF-approved materials.

1 out of 5 stars Not worth it   July 12, 2010

Bought one to clean my grill; following the directions exactly; even watched a video on it. It didn't clean my grill at all. The metal brush on the top bent off. Not worth it; only way to clean a dirty grill is with elbow grease.

1 out of 5 stars Another ASOTV piece of junk.   July 8, 2010

My wife bought this for me as a gift. I tried to keep an open mind ("as seen on TV", ASOTV, immediately sends up warning flags and sounds sirens), and when all is said and done I think it was yet another ASOTV waste of money. Would have been better off to give me a cigar and a ten dollar bill to light it with.

The one good thing I'll say about this product is that the brushes themselves are pretty good, better than many available at your local discount retailer. I guess another good thing is that the water resovoir doesn't leak, which is almost always a given in this type of gadget. And you know, I do like the hook for hanging the unit, too (i.e. a real metal hook, not a hole at the end of the handle). Okay, so there are three things I like about the Grill Daddy, and that's where it ends.

As for the steam cleaning, forget it. Let's look at the design (or how I perceive the design to be) for a second. The water is not pressure fed (i.e. no manual pump like a garden sprayer nor any battery operated type pump), so the only thing working to deliver the water is gravity, and/or perhaps the back & forth motion of scrubbing the grill. So basically the water just seeps out whenever it feels like it, without any consistency. Honestly, not a whole lot comes out.

Now take a look at your grill... do you notice that the spaces between the bars on the rack are about 2-to-3 times wider than the bars themselves? So guess where most of the water ends up? Hint: Not on the bars. What little water that actually does make it onto the rack burns off like it's supposed to, but that's all it does. The amount of "steam" produced is so infinitesimal that's it's a crime to even suggest that you're steam cleaning your grill. Plus, unlike a true steam cleaner where you can direct the steam, here it just simply rises and I personally doubt any steam ever even makes contact with the grill (based on my observations).

My last complaint is the size (length) of the unit; it's built compactly, so your hand is directly over the grill as you're cleaning. Yes, wearing a BBQ mitt prevents any burning or such, but it still gets hot as you're scrubbing; turning the heat down is not an option because that's what produces the steam. A long handle like all the normal grill brushes on the market would have been a better option.

Unfortunately, I'll have to continue using this piece of junk being a gift and all, but at least the brushes are okay. There's no law that says I have to use the steam "feature". Actually, if it's steam you want, I have a better (IMO), simpler, and less expensive alternative for you: Get a 99-cent spray bottle at Wal-Mart or your local drug store, fill it with water, then spray the bejeezus on the racks & deflector. THAT will give you a lot more (and consistent) steam than the Grill Daddy does! Then scrub with your basic BBQ brush.

This is the first product I've ever reviewed! But I was just out scrubbing my grill for the big 4th of July Grilling Weekend and was thinking how well the Grill Daddy Cleaning tool has performed. I only bought the thing to qualify for Free Shipping but am incredibly glad that I did. It works very well. The steam cleaning action really saves a lot of elbow grease. I fully recommend it.

I ordered item as it appear. Part was missing. I requested missing item be sent separately, instead I received another Grill Daddy which I had to return. I am not pleased.

This is a Christmas present, so I haven't seen it used yet. It came in pretty good condition. There were a few tears in the box, but other than that it is brand new. I hope it works well!
