1 out of 5 stars Tried two and neither worked.   August 17, 2010

Bought one last weekend. It did not work. It always showed temperatures that were much higher than the ambient temperature. Returned it to the store and we tried in the store another new one. It did not work either. So that was that for this brand.

1 out of 5 stars worked once and that was it   July 20, 2010

1 out of 5 stars Lasted a whole two months...........   June 16, 2010

From the pictures, this looks identical to the Oregon Scientific AW129. Considering mine has the same issues as Tony99999 has with the former, I think it's safe to assume it's just a rebrand. First, it was a PITA to establish wireless connectivity. The instructions said you should only need to reset the units when you changed batteries, but I found it necessary to reset every time I used it. About two months after I bought it, when I was lucky enough to get connectivity, it would only read 199 degrees. My search for a good unit continues.......

2 out of 5 stars Not happy with performance   June 2, 2010

I purchased this to assist in smoking a beef brisket. I liked the idea of having a wireless unit that I could carry around with me and monitor temperature without having to spend 12 hours sitting next to the smoker. The deal breaker on my unit was that the wireless signal kept cutting out. It would work for maybe a minute, then stop working for 5 - 10 minutes at a time. I thought I could set an alarm to go off when the desired temp was hit (which you can but it will only go as high as 170 degrees which is "well done" for beef). When it loses signal you get all sorts of beeps which was an issue since I was smoking the brisket overnight and wanted to get some sleep. It woke me up every few minutes with the beeping so ultimately I ended up being up all night turning the unit on and off, changing batteries, pulling the probe out of the meat and reinserting. Nothing seemed to work but it would just randomly start working again, then quit a minute later. Long story short, I probably had a defective unit and was lucky to get enough readings to at least sort of keep track of temperature but it was a huge hassle. Also this unit only keeps a temp up to 199 degrees. If you need to bring your temp up higher than that this is not the unit for you anyway.

I returned it and have since purchased a CDN Proaccurate Digital Programmable Probe Thermometer. Have not tried that one yet. It isnt wireless but I need something that at least works and it gets great reviews on Amazon so we'll see....

5 out of 5 stars Weber Digital Thermometer   April 29, 2010

Good product! Takes a little time to read the instructions and familiarize yourself with operating procedures. First grilling experience with thermometer worked well. Nice to be able to tend to other chores while meat is cooking and watch the temperature progress. Would recommend this item.
