5 out of 5 stars This Is A Great Grill   September 13, 2009

I was looking for a new grill and saw the Weber Q-200 in a local store. I was impressed at how well made this grill is. What immediately caught my eye was the ability to use 14.1 or 16.4 ounce LP cylinders instead of the usual larger LP tanks. That being said, Weber still gives you the choice by including the adapter hose to use the larger LP tank if you prefer that better.
This grill is very well-built. I liked that Weber supplies a cast-iron grate rather than stainless-steel, but that is just my preference in grates. For the most part, my Q-200 is staying put at home but the portability factor of this grill is also a plus.
Overall, a well-built, great looking Weber grill at an affordable price.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent quality grill at the entry level.   July 14, 2009

Good for grilling for a small family. It's not an el cheapo model. It's quality product that'll last atleast 10 yrs if you take care of it. Size is enough to feed one small family (2 adults and 2 kids) in one round of grilling.

Some people have reported problem that flame turns off due to wind. I experienced it too. The solution is to open the tank first, wait for few minutes and then ignite the flame. If you do both of them almost same time, regulator doesn't get a chance to stabilize for the tank's pressure and seems to turn off and on by itself.

2 out of 5 stars not enough heat   July 6, 2009

I've grilled on this pretty extensively. Do yourself a favor and get something better, especially if it doesn't have to be portable.. It sucks. it odesn't get hot enough and it fits the stupid expensive little propane bottles unless you modify it.

I have to let it preheat a long time for high temp fast cooking foods.

5 out of 5 stars fifth year, still a winner   July 6, 2009

We got our Q 200 in May 2005 and, as we live in sunny California, use it heavily (between 2 and 6 times a week from May through September). It sure shows the wear, but it grills like the day we got it.

Let's be clear: this is not a large, high-powered gas grill like those beautiful models that will cost you thousands of dollars (Viking, etc.). It can't reach the intense temperatures with the cover open (or even with it closed), and it certainly can't do what charcoal can do for meat, shrimp, etc. But we already have a wonderful Weber One-Touch Platinum charcoal grill, and as space is very limited in our tiny yard, we couldn't get a really nice high-end gas grill. The Q 200 takes up incredibly little space for a grill that performs so well and so efficiently, and its cooking surface is surprisingly large for the small overall size of the grill.

It does an amazing job on chicken, sausage, hot dogs, fish, and even hamburger and lamb chops. For those big steaks and foods that need intense heat or that charcoal flavor, better stick to the charcoal, but the Q is so convenient, I find myself using it 4 out of 5 times when I come home from work.

My wife has one complaint: she wants more cooking area for when we entertain. Solution? The Q 300. Takes up no more space on the rolling cart, and even has more power for those jobs that require it. We're going to order one. The Q series is a total winner for price, size, quality of construction, and performance.

Remember: this is not a charcoal grill, and it's not a commercial gas grill. But for the space that it takes up and its very reasonable price, there is nothing that compares.

I really love this grill. It is plenty big enough for our family of four. I have it on a table on our porch and it is very attractive and doesn't take up much space.
